●Place the bottom legs with two in front and one in the back.
● Open the front cover and place it on top of the back cover
● What is a shinnoteoke? It is a barrel-shaped water jar with a lacquered handle, hoops around the body and bottom, low legs on three sides of the bottom, and a split lid.
It is said that Murata Juko liked the lacquered bucket that was originally located in Higashiyama Palace because it was made of cedar, and that he attached rattan hoops to the top and bottom and used it as a water jar. Later, Takeno Joo had it repainted with real lacquer and used it for a stand; this is called a real hand bucket.
Sho'o prefers large ones, while Rikyu prefers small ones.
In the tea ceremony records, it first appears in 1539 (Tenbun 8), was most common from the Eiroku era (1558-1570) to around 1585 (Tensho 13), peaked around 1580 (Tensho 8), and its use began to decline around 1586 (Tensho 12), dropped dramatically in 1588 (Tensho 14), and was replaced by a rapid increase in the use of tsurube mizujars.
