●Magemono (curved objects) are vessels made by bending a thin sheet of wood into a ring shape with a bottom attached.
Thin boards are made from relatively bendable materials such as cypress, cedar, cypress leaves, and sawara. For water jars and water containers, this is called yumage. The boards are softened in hot water, bent, and the seams are sewn together using thin strips of cherry bark before a bottom and lid are attached.
●What is a curved water jar? Rikyu's preference is for a curved cedar jar with a width of 5.8 sun, height of 4.9 sun, thickness of 2 bu, leg length of 1.5 sun, height of 3.5 bu, stitching of 21 cm, width of lid of 6.1 sun, thickness of 1 bu.8 rin, hanging length of 2 bu, and height of 5 bu.
The curved wooden water jar was originally intended for use in the hearth and was meant to be used for a single occasion; it was soaked in water and wiped clean.
Place the seam and one foot in front, the grain of the lid is horizontal, and the seam on the underside of the lid is facing away.
In addition to bentō, there are a variety of other items such as lacquerware.
