● Nanban Shimekiri Eared Water Jar…The original (real thing). With its jewel-like shape and large ears, this water jar has a rare appearance that exudes a truly exotic feel.
On the inside of the inner box lid, the sixth great master of the Omotesenke school, Kakusensai Haraso, has inscribed the words “Nanban water pitcher, inscribed with sunoko (monogram),” but there are relatively few Nanban items that have box inscriptions from successive generations of the Sen school.
According to the inscription on the outer box, it was once owned by someone named Oda Kazutoshi and passed on through Haraso to the Fuyuki family in Edo, and was later kept by the Minami Mitsui family.
