Received the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry President's Award for traditional Kyoto-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki crafts. Born in Kyoto in 1959. Graduated from Kyoto Municipal Hiyoshigaoka High School, Art and Crafts Course, Japanese Painting Department in 1977. Graduated from Kyoto Prefectural Ceramics College in 1981. Teacher was Tezuka Gyokudo and his father, the 2nd generation Toraku. In 1996, he took on the name of the 3rd generation Toraku. In 2006, he won the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry President's Award at the Traditional Crafts Public Exhibition. A member of the Glaze Research Group of Dr. Yamamoto Tokuji, a doctor of engineering, he is a traditional craftsman.
