●糊こぼし椿（のりこぼしつばき）とは…東大寺二月堂の西に位置する開山堂に原木のこと
真紅の花びらに白い斑点が入るのが特徴です。
この白い斑点が、まるで糊をこぼしたように見えることから「糊こぼし」と呼ばれています。
「良弁椿」とも呼ばれ、初代別当の良弁僧正をお祀りする開山堂に咲くことからこの名でも呼ばれます。
奈良の三名椿「糊こぼし椿」の一つに数えられています。
伝香寺の「散り椿」・白毫寺の「五色椿」・東大寺の「糊こぼし椿」
東大寺二月堂で行われる「修二会（お水取り）」では、この糊こぼし椿を模した造花が作られ、堂内に飾られます。造花は赤と白の和紙で作られ、黄色の雄しべが特徴です。
