Graduated from Kyoto Municipal Hiyoshigaoka High School Art Course as a ceramic artist in 1961
Born into a family that ran a ceramic overglaze business, he studied under his father, the first Suiran
In 1974, he took on the name Suiran II.
1984: Won the Grand Prize at the 6th Kyoto Kiyomizu Ware Exhibition
Winner of the NHK Chairman's Award at the 9th National Traditional Crafts Exhibition
In 1987, he was certified as a traditional craftsman of Kiyomizu-yaki in Kyoto.
In 1993, he exhibited at the first overseas exhibition in 125 years, "Contemporary Kyoto Ware and Kiyomizu Ware in Paris," and served as the exhibition's executive committee chairman.
2003 Kyoto Master Craftsman, Kyoto Prefecture Traditional Industry Excellent Technician Award
In 2010, he was awarded the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Award for Contemporary Master Craftsman (Outstanding Craftsman)
Since then, he has been active in numerous solo exhibitions and exhibitions.
The next generation's daughter is also making pottery
