Raku ware pottery was founded during the Bunsei era by the owner of Tanzakuro, a teahouse in front of Gion Yasaka Shrine.
The foundation of bisque pottery started by Tanzakuya Shichizaemon was passed on to the second generation Shichibei, and the company has continued as a Raku ware kiln for over 200 years as "Tanzakuya of Raku ware".In 1918, the company was bestowed the name "Waraku" by Admiral Togo Heihachiro.
Since then, the shop has continued to operate under the name "Waraku" to this day.
