It is known as a famous spot in Nara City to view autumn leaves, and in the Kokin Wakashū (Collection of Poems), it is famous for the poem by Sugawara no Michizane, who wrote, "This time, I will not even bring a wand, but will instead leave the autumn leaves of Mt. Tamuke to the merriment of the gods."
