[Nakamura Soetsu] Yamanaka lacquer artist Born in Ishikawa Prefecture in 1932. In 1946, he studied under his father and devoted himself to tea ceremony utensils. In 1967, he received instruction in tea ceremony from the late Nakao Sowa. In 1979, he won the Forestry Agency Commissioner's Award at the National Lacquerware Exhibition (Mitsukoshi Main Store, Tokyo). In 1982, he won the Governor's Award at the National Lacquerware Exhibition (Mitsukoshi Main Store, Tokyo). In 1983, he won the Seiurushi Association Award at the National Lacquerware Exhibition (Mitsukoshi Main Store, Tokyo). In 1987, he was given the tea ceremony name (Sokyo).
In 1992, he became an associate professor of tea ceremony. In 1994, he received instruction in pottery from Kaga Koto Ueno Yoichi. In 1996, he was selected for the Ishikawa Prefectural Exhibition.

[Nakatani Shusai]
Born in Ishikawa Prefecture in 1941, Yamanaka-cho, Ishikawa Prefecture. Studied under his father in 1951. Received training in Ikkan-nuri lacquer in Kyoto and began making tea ceremony utensils. Exhibited at the Ishikawa Prefectural Traditional Crafts Museum in 1984.
