In 1925, he was born in Ushigome Bentencho, Tokyo, as the eldest son of Toshichi Iwata.
1944: Entered the Department of Crafts and Design at Tokyo School of Fine Arts (now Tokyo University of the Arts)
Graduated from the Department of Crafts and Design at Tokyo School of Fine Arts (now Tokyo University of the Arts) in 1951.
1951: Completed training course at the Tokyo Institute of Technology Ceramic Glass Laboratory
1948: Joined Iwata Glass Works and began making glass.
1949: First entry and first selection in the Nitten Exhibition
In 1953, the company name was changed to Iwata Glass Co., Ltd., and he became president.
1972: Founded the Japan Glass Art Crafts Association, first chairman (councillor of the Nitten Exhibition)
1982: Awarded the Japan Art Academy Prize (and the Order of the Rising Sun, 4th Class)
Died in 1994
