[(Real name: Mutsuo)] Hashimoto Toshozan Kiln (Pot Yaki Kiln Maker)
Born in Kashima City, Saga Prefecture in 1893 (Shozo)
1906: Arita ware Kuboyama, studied under the potter Tokichi Tsuruta
In 1920, he was invited to work at the Utsunomiya Pottery Factory in Kagoshima City, and in the same year, he trained in Satsuma ware at Yokoishi Kiln and other facilities.
In 1939, Hashimoto Toshozan Kiln was founded by Hashimoto Shozo (pen name Shozan) in Kagoshima City.
1948: Satsuma Pottery Co., Ltd. is established
Received the Order of the Sacred Treasure, 5th Class, in 1971.
Since then, he has held solo exhibitions at department stores around the country.
In 1980, he held the 88th birthday commemorative exhibition for two generations of parents and children.
In 1985, the first generation, Shozo Sueyama, passed away. The second generation, Mutsuo, took on the name of Shozan Sueyama.

In 1935, during the Imperial Army Special Maneuvers, he carved the sake bottles for the Imperial meal and the exhibits.

In 1937, Kagoshima Prefecture and Kagoshima City awarded research funds to designated factories.
In 1975, the Omote Senke Kyushu Convention (Kagoshima), in 1977, the Omote Senke National Convention (Takamatsu), and in 1983, the Kagoshima Civic Cultural Hall Opening Ceremony, the head of the family used the Seisai Kokaigu.
Since 1977, the All Japan Senchado Federation has sponsored the Modern Senchado Utensils Exhibition and has recommended it to exhibit every year.
Mainly using White Satsuma, the first and foremost thing is to prepare the base, which is the lifeblood of White Satsuma, and is characterized by the warmth of the ceramic surface, the refined texture, and the beautiful shape.
Aiming to express exquisite brocade and coloring, I am devoting myself to making white Satsuma pottery that is in tune with the times and is primarily used for the tea ceremony.
