●Wakeiseijaku (harmony, respect, purity, serenity)… Words that show the mindset of the tea ceremony
The meaning is that the host and guests should relax and respect each other, and that the equipment in the tea room and the atmosphere of the tea ceremony should be purified.
These are known as "Rikyu's Four Rules and Seven Principles" in the tea ceremony, and when his disciple asked him to teach him the secrets of the tea ceremony, Sen no Rikyu is said to have replied with these Four Rules and Seven Principles.
●Kouunryusui (flowing clouds and water)...A metaphor for acting naturally, without getting too attached to things, like clouds moving through the sky or flowing water.
It is also an analogy for something not having a fixed form, but rather changing naturally and smoothly.
"Gyōun" means clouds passing through the sky. "Ryūsui" means flowing water. It is also sometimes used as an analogy for Zen monks who travel around the country to train.
● Clouds floating leisurely in the blue sky. It is unclear whether the clouds are moving or still. The water seems to flow smoothly without a moment's rest.
