●Seven Rules of Rikyu (Seven Rules of Rikyu)…Rikyu Doka: Like wildflowers, like charcoal boiling water, be cool in summer and warm in winter, be early, be prepared for rain even if it doesn't rain. Be considerate of your guests.
Also known as the One Hundred Poems of Rikyu, these are poems that were written in order to make the teachings of Sen no Rikyu easy to understand and remember, even for beginners.
When his disciple asked him to teach him the secrets of the tea ceremony, Sen no Rikyu is said to have replied with these four rules and seven principles.
The meaning is that the host and guests should relax and respect each other, and that the equipment in the tea room and the atmosphere of the tea ceremony should be purified.
It is said to be "Rikyu's four rules and seven rules" in the tea ceremony.
