・Tsuchida Yuko, one of the Ten Senke Craftsmen... is an honorific title used to refer to ten craftsmen, including lacquerers and joiners, who are involved in the tea ceremony and frequent the three Senke schools (Omotesenke, Urasenke, and Mushakojisenke). During the Meiji period, the name was reorganized into the current ten craftsmen. (There is also a theory that the Mitsukoshi department store was the creator of the name during the Taisho period.)
・Tsuchida Tomoko was a bag maker, and after being appointed 12th, he began sewing covers for tea caddies and other items.
From the second generation onwards, the head of the family was commonly known as Hanshiro, and when he retired and shaved his head he took the name Tomoko. Up until the fifth generation, the family was a bag maker specialising in making shifuku (seals), and the 12th generation (who took the name in 1965) currently makes shifuku (seals) for tea caddies, hakama (cloths), and kakuobi (belts) for tea ceremony utensils.
