The Ten Sen Craftsmen, Tsuchida Yuko, is an honorific title for ten craftsmen, including lacquerers and joiners, who are involved in the tea ceremony and frequent the three Sen schools (Omotesenke, Urasenke, and Mushakojisenke). During the Meiji period, the name was reorganized into the current ten craftsmen. (There is also a theory that the Mitsukoshi department store was the creator of the name during the Taisho period.)
Tsuchida Tomoko is a bag maker, and is the 12th generation (succeeded in 1965), who currently makes tea caddy covers, dress wraps, and square sashes for tea ceremony utensils.
