● Willows are green and flowers are red (Yamagi wa midori wa nakurenai)… The willows have green branches and red flowers are in full bloom. At first, all you can see is the difference in the various phenomena.
After completing the training, one can see things as they really are, but it is a completely different world than what one saw at the beginning.
● Plum blossoms and the fragrance of snow (baikayuki niwashitekanba)…The white plum blossoms blend into the pure white snow and may not be visible, but with the plums you can tell that spring is coming, this is a poem that captures the elegance of the plum blossom.
This song compares the plum blossoms blooming in the bitter cold to the poet himself, and describes his training as being elegant and enduring hardships.
●Bankataihei no Haru (peaceful spring for all families)…It means that a peaceful and calm spring will come to every home and to everyone.

Gokurakuji Temple Kinosaki, Hyogo Prefecture
Born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1942
In 1949, Nishigaki Soko was ordained as a monk at the Daitoku Sodo, and later at the Sokoku Sodo.
1976: Completed master's course at Bukkyo University Graduate School
In 1978, he became the chief priest of the Mannenzan Gokuraku Zen Temple of the Daitokuji School in Kinosaki, Hyogo Prefecture.
