●Sankawarai yachokataru (The words of wild birds, blooming in the mountains)...This is read in a righteous way, with the character for "bloom" pronounced aloud as "warai" (laughing), and yachokataru (talking), expressing the sounds of the birds singing.
This is a Zen phrase that is appropriate for the months of April and May.
The message is that we should feel the wonder of life as everything sprouts, senses its vitality, and its reality becomes visible.
●Hanahashiru Ichiyou no Haru (Flowers know the same way in spring)…Zenrin haiku collection. This is the sequel to the couplet Tsukiha Meigetsu no Akishiru (The moon knows the bright moon in autumn)
The meaning is that the moon and flowers never go out of time. It sings of the wonder of the laws of nature.
