Born in 1936 as the eldest son of woodworker Shunsai Maebata
In 1961, he learned lacquer art from Michihiro Murata, stone ground lacquer from Chokan Nakamura, and Kaga lacquer art from Yoshinari Hoya.
In 1973, he made a tea caddy from old wood from the dismantling and repair of the Daitokuji Kinmokaku, an important cultural property. At the same time, he was given the name "Gaho" by Zuiho-in and Yoshiguchi Keido Roshi.
In 1983, the Mugenan Foundation (designated an important cultural property by Ishikawa Prefecture) was established in Yamanaka Onsen.
In 1989, the Tokyo Art Club's tea ceremony room, Seisei-an, was moved to the Mugen-an Foundation.
In 2004, I was appointed to the lacquerwork department for the teahouse architecture of Kinkakuji Temple's "Josokutei"
