[The 12th Tahara Tobei]
Born in 1925 (Taisho 14) in Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
In 1944 (Showa 19), while attending Yamaguchi High School, he was drafted and sent to Manchuria.
In 1945 (Showa 20), he was detained in Siberia.
In 1948 (Showa 23), after returning from Siberia where he had been detained, his eldest brother, the 11th Tahara Tobei, inherited the family business as there was no successor.
In 1956 (Showa 31), he took on the name of the 12th Tahara Tobei.
In 1972 (Showa 47), he became a full member of the Japan Crafts Council.
In 1981, he was recognized as a holder of an intangible cultural property by Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Passed away on September 27, 1991. Died at the age of 66.
[The 13th Tahara Tobei (real name Kenji)]
Born in 1951 (Showa 26) - current head of the family. The eldest son of the 12th generation.
He studied under Shigetoshi Nakazato.
In 1992, Heisei 4, he took over as the 13th generation following the death of his father.
