What is Takasago?
One of the Noh plays.
This is a very auspicious Noh play that pays tribute to the Aioi Pine Tree (Takasago Shrine, Takasago City, Hyogo Prefecture) and celebrates marital love and longevity, as well as the human condition.
In the olden days it was called "Aioi" or "Aioimatsu."

After the dialogue between Waki and Wakizure and Ai, the Uta sung by Waki is: "Takasago, we hoist the sails on this harbor boat, we hoist the sails on this harbor boat, the moon comes out together with us, the tide and the waves show the silhouette of Awaji Island, we pass far off the coast of Naruo and quickly arrive at Sumiyoshi, quickly arrive at Sumiyoshi." This is a standard song at wedding receptions.
During the Edo period, it was one of the two most popular congratulatory songs with a pine tree theme, along with "Roimatsu" (Oimatsu).
